Reed Consulting was borne as a result of meticulous attention to detail and years of inspection experience. We've been analyzing data and completing inspections for years. What we discovered is most other companies made the process cumbersome, complicated, and costly. We understand you need your vehicle inspection done thoroughly, quickly, concisely, AND at the lowest price. When an order is received we will immediately contact the seller and schedule the inspection as soon as possible.
Over the years we've learned that waiting to do an inspection gives another buyer time to beat you to the punch. What you need is a fast, thorough inspection done for the lowest price. We keep our overhead low and pass the savings (in time and money) on to you. The result is a 100+ point inspection with about 50 photos. No. We verify the vehicle is what the seller says it is. We do a thorough inspection but do not provide value.
No, for the most part. We do look at the engine, check the oil, look for specific things you may want us to look at, and look for leaks or obvious signs of issues, but we do not do a complete mechanical inspection. A test drive is performed (if possible) and any issues noted with engine and vehicle performance. We verify the vehicle is what is claimed to be, condition, mileage, VIN, tires/wheels, interior, exterior, underneath, engine, amenities and more.
Yes and No. We recommend you consult with the seller to see if they allow a test drive. If the vehicle is able to be driven, we will drive it. Sometimes the vehicle is not in working order. Sometimes the seller does not permit a test drive. Sometimes the seller will insist they drive the vehicle and the inspector ride along. Sometimes the weather conditions (snow, salt) are not permissible for a test drive. Sometimes buyers insist on a test drive and other times they just need to know whether it will start or shift into forward and reverse. Sometimes the buyer does not want the vehicle driven (ie: $300,000 Bentley—do you want it driven in winter if you’re the buyer)? We ARE able to test drive about 90% of vehicles.

No. We do not work for any dealers, nor are we contracted by or affiliated with any dealerships. We are not a dealership and we do not buy or sell vehicles. We are truly a neutral, third-party whose mission is to give buyers peace of mind in knowing the vehicle they are interested in is the vehicle we inspect for them. We strive to be the connection between a buyer and a seller and return an honest vehicle condition report to the buyer.
We have a background in business analytics with a long history or scrutinizing complex data, accuracy of information, and doing comprehensive due diligence in factual reporting. We also have years of experience in doing inspections of everything from heavy equipment, small equipment, vehicles, real estate, and documents. Our history of reviewing a variety of data along with attention to detail brought a natural fit to the two fields. We have decades of experience in analysis.
Primarily, we inspect passenger cars and trucks. We have inspected everything from everyday passenger cars, to classic cars, to exotic, and super cars. We have also inspected commercial vehicles, RVs, boats, and motorcycles. It is not uncommon for us to look at a 2012 Honda, a new Mercedes, a ’57 Chevy, and an ’88 Lamborghini all in the same week. This is why we tailor a report to your specific needs. A ’57 Chevy has a lot of different features and needs than a new BMW or Mercedes. We will inspect motorcycles but will not test drive them. We will inspect motor homes and if you want them driven we will ask that you have the seller drive them. Some vehicles are not worth the risk for us to drive but we do understand how the inspection can still be beneficial.
